As part of the deal, Guascor, which is based in Alava, will build solar energy plants capable of producing up to 180 megawatts, with 900 million euros being invested over three years.

The solar panels will be made by Guascor Foton, a subsidiary of Guascor based in Ortuella, Vizcaya, in the company's factory in Arasur, near Vitoria, both of which sites are in the Basque Country.

The deal stipulates that a factory producing solar panels will be set up in Gela, Sicily, and the Sicilian local authorities will approve contracts for at least 180 megawatts in the next three years and invest a total of 900 million euros.

Guascor is also considering setting up businesses which use new high-concentration technology to produce solar power in Sicily, such as HCPV, as it is a world leader in the sector. Guascor will now be responsible for outsourcing the solar energy plants in Sicily, as well as planning, building, maintaining their day-to-day functioning and managing them. (ANSAmed).
